Min Fan 范敏
Min was born in a mountain village along the Yangtze River in southern China. She was exposed to Tai Chi at a young age but didn’t take a serious interest in it until she went to Peking University in Beijing. The campus of Peking university was on the site of a Qing Dynasty royal garden. Tai Chi masters, instructors, and students like Min would gather around the ancient trees in the early mornings to practice together.
After immigrating to the United States, Min studied art at UNC-Asheville and received her MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill. She was recruited by Hewlett Packard to Fort Collins and enjoyed a rich decade-long corporate career there before leaving for the nonprofit sector. Throughout this time, Min continued to practice Tai Chi and developed her own practice based on learnings from masters of various Tai Chi traditions in the U.S. and China, including Dave Mishlove in Fort Collins. In 2017, Min started a new chapter of her Tai Chi practice as an instructor.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Min started teaching Tai Chi outdoors. That has led to the FoCo Tai Chi community that continues to meet every Sunday to practice together. In her day-job, Min is the Executive Director of the U.S. Heartland China Association, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting people-to-people exchanges between the U.S. and China with a special focus on the American Heartland region.
